Online Wheelchair Service Training Series
ISWP recently developed online content based on the WHO Wheelchair Service Training Packages (WSTP). The WHO WSTP are grouped by target audiences (i.e., trainees’ profiles). These courses can support the training of wheelchair providers in basic (for users who can sit upright without support) and intermediate level (for users who need additional support), the training of trainers of both basic and intermediate level, and training managers of wheelchair services and other stakeholders.
The availability of these courses will significantly reduce the number of in-person training days, as well as the cost, and expand the number of people who can be trained. The online modules were created using Articulate’s Storyline 360.
The online modules are intended to be used as both asynchronous self-paced and instructor-facilitated content. Make sure you review this Trainer’s manual (available in English and Spanish) before you start using our Online Wheelchair Service Training Series. In this manual you will find agendas for training and typical resources that would be required for both online and in-person deployment.
To gain access to the online modules, we request the following contribution from the partner:
- If you are an educator or work at a training center, we would like you to participate in our academic training partners’ meeting (held bi-monthly), share some of your training resources, and share with us how you have integrated wheelchair content into your curricula. - If you are not an educator nor work at a training center, please contact ISWP Research and Training Coordinator, Krithika Kandavel at [email protected] for more information. We will request you to have your course recognized as the first step.
